History of GVC's focus

Global Village Consulting Inc. (GVC) began as a small firm created by a number of friends shortly after completing their University studies. From these simple roots, GVC has been built by its partners into a successful enterprise application development company.

Early work in the company focused around simple web-based applications using custom built tools (Charlotte Web Engine) and generally available production databases (Oracle, DB2 and others). As the company expanded, GVC added expertise in client server and n-tier enterprise applications for a variety of server and desktop platforms utilizing Delphi and OpenStep/Cocoa. Systems developed included accounting applications for the management of accounts receivable and inventory tracking, as well as project management and human resources.

As our clients innovated and the spread of the Internet and Intranet technology increased, GVC’s team continued to develop and refine its tools and approaches. In order to meet the cost saving and ease of use needs of our clients while distributing corporate data securely, GVC expanded its tool base to include world class enterprise tools and languages such as WebObjects, Objective-C and Java. Coupled with best of breed design tools like Rational Rose and third party products such as Adobe’s FDF/PDF framework, GVC continued to develop applications that allowed clients to increase their productivity and competitiveness. Custom built solutions included eCommerce applications with integrated inventory management, online applications for customer management, content management systems and detailed project management and tracking systems.

As a result of GVC’s history of quality application development and proper object oriented designs, we have developed a set of frameworks that provide some of the basic functionality for each new project. The GVC frameworks include functionality such as Validation, eCommerce and Security. Each new project continues to refine these code libraries to include new functionality for all clients. As GVC embraces the future, each of our clients will continue to benefit from the works of the past and the continuous development and investment that we are committed to making in our collective futures.
