Overview of Business: Overview of Business: Queen Charlotte Lodge is a premier fishing lodge on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. The company provides complete packaged fishing vacations to their resort properties in the Queen Charlotte Islands. 
Description of Problem: Queen Charlotte Lodge wanted a more automated software processing to help selected staff manage the various elements of a reservation; including usage of historical data, booking a reservation, invoicing and tracking payment, flight and accommodation scheduling, and onsite transactions. A more efficient means of conveing information between the head office, located in Vancouver, and the the lodge location, Queen Charlotte, was also necessary to expediate communication between the two locations.

Project Description: The key element of the Queen Charlotte Lodge (QCL) Management project was to provide a simple yet useful web-based application for the use by QCL personnel to manage all aspects of the lodge including development of a client database from which current reservations and reports could be made, scheduling the corresponding flights and accommodations for reservations, invoicing and tracking payments, and tracking of payments for on-site expenses.  
Description of Solution: The system included a web front-end, middleware of custom business objects and back-end RDBMS. The project consisted of calendaring functionalities including the concept of soft reservations and the interface with third party systems. The tools used to build the system included WebObjects and Frontbase RDBMS.
