Overview of Business: The Ann Arbor Public School District serves the City of Ann Arbor and parts of eight surrounding townships.
The district has 20 elementary schools, 1 K-8 open school, 5 middle schools, 2 comprehensive high schools, 3 alternative high schools, 1 pre-school and 1 adult education program.

Description of Problem: Due to limited staff and decreasing budgets, a more efficient and economical means of managing and maintaining the websites associated with the AAPS was needed. Also, in an effort to increase services provided to teachers and students, AAPS wanted to provide the technology to enable teachers and students to have a web presence and facilitate learning and communication between teachers, students, parents, and the school board.

Description of Solution: After evaluating GVC.SiteMaker (then SiteMaker) as a pilot project offered by the University of Michigan, AAPS determined that this product would provide them with all the features and functions necessary to accomplish their desired goals. A commercial license of the GVC.SiteMaker (v2.5) product was purchased from Global Village Consulting, Inc. (GVC) AAPS determined that the application and FrontBase database would be contracted out to be hosted by GVC.
The application and database are hosted on a Mac X-Serve running OSX v10.2.6. Because GVC.SiteMaker is hosted by GVC, Tier II support and maintenance agreement was needed to provide 24/7 server support.
