Global Village Consulting Inc. announces completion of temporary Pesticide Use Reporting System for the Oregon Department of Agriculture. Vancouver, BC, May 16, 2003 -- Global Village Consulting Inc. (GVC) announces the previous completion and ongoing maintenance of the temporary Pesticide Use Reporting System (tPURS) for the Oregon Department of Agriculture. The purpose of the Oregon Pesticide Use Reporting System Project (PURS) is to create a comprehensive, reliable and cost effective system to collect and organize information on pesticide use in Oregon. The goal of collecting this information is to ensure public health and safety, and protect Oregons water and environment. To achieve this goal, specific information will be made available to government agencies, researchers, policy makers and the public. The system included a web front-end, middleware of custom business objects, data importation, data conversion and back-end RDBMS. Future Development: In addition, GVC has also agreed to extend the development contract to the end of 2003 for the development of the permanent PURS system, subject to the confirmation of funding in the State budget. The permanent PURS project will have a complex set of interfaces with third party data sources, online reporting and administration systems. The tools used to build the system will include WebObjects, XML (for bulk data transfers), WebSphere (for deployment), Frontbase and DB2 RDBMS for datastore.
