GVC has resources with a long history of involvement in health information standards and have provided consultancy and advice in areas such as clinical terminology, classifications, messaging, surveillance and health system management through regional, provincial, federal, national and international organisations. Clinical Terminology Development

GVC resources have worked on developing, consensus base terminology value sets and content required to interoperate health information both in automated electronic systems as well as manual systems. The experience in a wide selection of terminology products like SNOMED, LOINC, ICD and the best practices associated with each allows GVC to provide leadership in pan-Canadian consensus based terminology adoption and design, like the Panorama Vocabulary Working Group. GVC resources also have experience in designing terminology systems that provide terminologies to applications.

Health Information Messaging Standards

GVC resources have worked with ISO, HL7 International, HL7 Canada and Canada Health Infoway in the development of health information messaging standards that provide true semantic and system interoperability of health information. GVC resources have direct experience working with Canada Health Infoway by facilitating pan-Canadian Standards Working Groups and Projects for the development of Provider, Client, Location, Laboratory, eClaims, Pharmacy and Public Health Services messaging. GVC resources also have direct experience in helping standard development organisations like HL7 and Canada Health Infoway Standards Collaborative by sitting as key positions on management committees.

Standards Governance and Collaboration

GVC resources provide a long established reputation on standards governance processes and management strategies. GVC resources have chaired pan-Canadian Standards Working Groups and participated as representatives on Standards Collaborative Coordinating Committees. GVC resources have provided organisations like Health Canada and the Canadian Institute for Health Information with guidance and processes for the governance and management of their standards and standards supporting solutions. As recognised leaders in Health Information Standards, GVC resources provided advice on the product management processes based on our teams experience of managing standards with organisations like Ontario Health Information Standards Council, Canada Health Infoway Standards Collaborative, Health Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada, Canadian Institute for Health Information, and BC Ministry of Health.
